Selkirk Fall Apart at Hawick

Selkirk suffered a third consecutive defeat in the Border League when, once again, the club’s batting let them down at Hawick. Batting first the visitors, whose arrival had been delayed by the Roberton Rideout, slumped to 11/3  and though Darren Fenton and Rory Banks counter-attacked with some brio it was not enough as Selkirk were dismissed for a disappointing, insufficient total of just 78.

Selkirk needed quick wickets to have any chance of defending such a modest total and were given hope when Buekes was bowled by Jordan Reid and then, soon after, Reid took a fine catch in the deep to dismiss Welsh as he tried to hook Darren Fenton.

That was mostly that however as Hartop compiled a breezy 36* and, supported by Rogers, steered Hawick home.
