Fenton Brothers Doom Kelso

Selkirk’s improved form continued with an excellent victoy over Kelso in the first Border 20/20 League fixture of the year. Bowling first, Selkirk were indebted to the brothers Fenton who took two wickets each for a combined cost of just 22 runs off their eight overs. Phil Dunkley was the only Kelso batsman to make a real and serious nuisance of himself and when his innings was ended by Jordan Reid, Kelso’s prospects of setting a truly challenging total were dashed.

As it was, Selkirk made it home with five overs to spare and, for the first time in rather longer than it is comfortable to contemplate, sent Kelso home defeated. Admittedly the Souters were aided by some generously wayward Kelso bowling but though Everitt and Greg Fenton were both eventually dismissed thier scores of 29 and 23 respectively had left Selkirk well-placed for victory.

The Tweedsiders have their chance for revenge, mind you, as they visit Philiphaugh this Saturday, July 3rd, for a Border League tussle.
